FEATURES

  • Ultimate performance brings together all of our most advanced designs.
  • Mid-sized blades are an ideal fit for the great majority of average size paddlers.
  • The volume of the buoyant, full carbon, blades creates an exceedingly light feel for effortless and confident strokes.
  • Dynel® edges protect the paddle from the rigorous environment paddlers often find themselves in. A roping material, dynel is impact and abrasion resistant.
  • Dihedral allows for smooth and stable forward paddling, a core philosophy for Werner.
  • Smooth back face makes for cleaner entry and exit of your strokes and an elegant feel on the water.
  • Optimized flex and strength. Choose our carbon straight shaft in Standard Diameter or Small Diameter.
  • The Smart View Adjustable ferrule is the most simple, precise fitting on the market. The solid feel of a 1-piece paddle and nothing to snag your gear.
  • Although our Ultimate performance paddles are far and away our best paddling, their unique design characteristics and materials do not make them our most impact resistant. Look to our Premium paddles for the highest impact resistance.

Not for use in rivers

"Zero stars. Broke very easily during a routine swim. Werner offered to fix it at my cost. I can't trust a paddle that breaks so easily. So now I'm out 700$. Got fewer than 3 months use. And have no paddle now."

Werner vs. Lendal Paddles…

"Good Day fellow paddlers. Recently I purchased a Lendal Paddle to add to my paddle collection. Over the years I’ve owned many Werner paddles. Mostly Ikelos and Cyprus paddles at various lengths. I thought I’d do something a bit’ different for a change. The Lendal Cadence X paddle attracted me since it had similar dimensions to the Cyprus. First of all I can do a comparison between the Cyprus & Lendal X paddles. However, after more than 30 years of paddling experience I would caution paddlers from dealing with Lendal. I had a problem with the expensive purchase I made with Lendal. I e-mailed them three(3) times and called Lendal on three(3) different occasions. Only to get a voice mail where I left messages for Lendal to get back to me. Lendal never got back to me regarding my problem with a defect in the paddle. One thing I do know is that if I contact Werner via phone, I will be speaking with a Werner employee regarding a concern. The Cyprus and Cadence X paddles are very similar. However, I like the wider circumference on the Werner shaft. I like how the Cyprus is more quiet when ‘catching’ the water. The Werner Cyprus and Lendal X both having a 650cm surface area. Yet the Cadence X is priced $50 more than the Cyprus. So, who would you rather deal with on a purchase for an expensive paddle? Personally, I will never deal with Lendal again. One should be able to contact the company and get a prompt response. Lendal doesn’t even bother to contact you…."

Lightweight, durable and a pleasure to paddle with

"I'm a smaller paddler (5'1", 110 lbs.) and a sea kayak coach who loves paddling bumpy water as well as going on multi-day trips. I've been paddling with a 200 cm., regular-diameter, straight-shaft Cyprus for years. I love the smooth entry and exit from the water, the buoyancy, and the durability. The smaller blade puts less strain on my body than an Ikelos or other larger blade would, and it allows for a higher cadence. It's so light, you can paddle with it all day, every day. This paddle has been my reliable partner in great lakes surf, on coastal trips, and in tidal races. Every time I lend it to a student, they end up purchasing one. I strongly recommend that shorter sea kayakers consider a 200 cm. length."

Powerful Performance

"Werner created a masterpiece when they developed the Cyprus paddle. It is, by far, the best paddle I have ever held in my hands! It simply adds pure joy to any kayaking experience. The strength of this paddle is unmatched. If a "fuel milage" rating could be put on a paddle, the Cyprus would rank highest as anyone will find the distance covered per stroke can't be ignored. Transferring power to the water will seem effortless. Being a kayak angler, boat control is critical for precise casting and landing fish. The light weight Cyprus paddle makes one arm paddling a breeze, allowing me to maintain position and stay in control, never having to put my fishing rod down. This paddle is key to my success on the water."

First Impressions

"Just received my paddle and took it out for a "spin" yesterday. Paddled in shallow and deep seawater, and bisected the island via two rivers with a porterage in between. One river was very tight mangrove with a fallen tree I had to partially bash through. Distance was a hair over 10 miles. The paddle was purchased to replace a 1990's Epic full carbon straight shaft. I like that the ferrule system is fuss-free, Only time will tell if the Werner's ferrule-pin system remains gap-free over time. I am a high-angle paddler. I'm 5'11" and the 210cm length serves me well. I have a full stroke and use both the catch and exit phases to help steer my boat. My Epic has a very narrow ideal bandwidth in the stroke, and too much power or incorrect angle / insufficient depth will cause the blade to flutter. I found the Werner Cyprus to be much more forgiving and I found one has to be purposefully obtuse to annoy this stick. In fact, and this may be my imagination, I found a little "snap" in this paddle (Is this possible in a full carbon paddle?) on over-powering, which I enjoyed. Some foam-sandwich paddles will exhibit a healthy positive buoyancy which requires a little getting used to. I found the Werner Cyprus to be neutrally buoyant on exit which made for a smoother stroke. I all, a nice paddle for high-angle paddlers out touring. The only downside is keep it close or it may, "Walk off!" It's just that beautiful."
